• About the program

  BCNS is a standalone utility that helps BC (Background Communicator) users to find other BC users. It may be extremely useful when you use BC community groups / chat rooms.

  • Computer with a Pentium class processor (66MHz or faster).
  • 128-256MB of RAM.
  • Microsoft Windows NT family OS (Windows NT 4.0 / Windows 2000 or later).
  • TCP/IP connection.

• Troubleshooting

  General tips
  By default BCNS uses exactly the same ports as BC:

  • Data port: UDP 3782 for audio data;
  • Control port: TCP 3782 for control messages.
  If you want to run BCNS and BC on a single machine simultaneously, assignment of default control port to BCNS (3782) and port 3783 to BC is advised.

  Port numbers may be changed from menu->options->general->networking. You should change control port with care, because other users may have trouble accessing you if you set control port to any value other than default.
